Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 3 cups cooked jasmine rice
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 cucumber sliced (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded carrots optional

Method

Cook rice according to package directions and keep warm.
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook ground beef for 6-8 minutes until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
Drain excess grease if needed, then pour sauce into the skillet and stir well.
Simmer for 2-3 minutes until sauce slightly thickens and coats the beef.
Spoon beef over rice and top with green onions, sesame seeds, cucumbers, or carrots before serving.

              Notes

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Keep rice separate for better reheating. Add extra vegetables or a fried egg on top to make the bowls more filling.
